Reasonable Service

Nancy Leigh DeMoss: There are times when I feel like God asks for something unreasonable. It may be giving a caring ear after a long day of ministry or helping a family give their kids a Christian education.

Whatever it is, I have to go back to the words of Paul in Romans 12:1: “I urge you . . . in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices. . . . This is your reasonable act of worship.”

The word translated reasonable is where we get our word “logical.” Because God has given so much, it’s only logical that we should surrender ourselves to Him.

When you feel like God’s call is unreasonable, remember Christ’s sacrifice on the cross. When you think about what He’s given, it will inspire you to give as well.
