A Daily Habit
Nancy Leigh DeMoss: I know a couple that appeared to have a deep, genuine love for the Lord and a strong family. But the husband’s heart had become hard and cold. He was harboring private sin for a long time, but eventually it became public. He had to admit to his wife that he’d been committing adultery.
It was a sobering reminder of why we all need to be pursuing holiness. When we’re in a daily habit of repentance, it can help keep us from a pattern of sin that will destroy us. Dealing with the sin in our hearts will protect us from the big, visible sins.
Remember 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24: “Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it.”
