Nancy Leigh DeMoss: Why should we be careful not to sin?
“I don’t know why preachers are always harping on sin.”
“I don’t think much about sin. I don’t think people should judge.”
“I like to focus on the love of God.”
Nancy: If we really do focus on the love of God, it will motivate us to avoid sin. The love of God led Christ to the cross.
An old-time writer said, “Surely that man must be in an unhealthy state of soul who can think of all that Jesus suffered and yet cling to those sins for which that suffering was undergone.”
Jesus didn’t suffer so we could have a passport to happiness while continuing to indulge our lust, anger, jealousy, and pride. His death provides the motivation and power to say no to sin and yes to holiness in every area of our lives.
When you’re tempted today, keep the cross of Christ in the center of your mind.
