Build on the Rock
(children singing) “The wise man built his house upon the rock and the rains came tumbling down.”
Nancy Leigh DeMoss: You may have sung that little chorus when you were a kid. But did you know that that song was based on the words of Jesus? In Matthew 7 He said, “Everyone who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.” Then He says, “And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell.”
Did you notice that both the wise and the foolish man heard the words of the Lord, but the foolish man didn’t do anything about what he heard? The storms of trials and troubles will come to your life. Are you building a strong foundation now by obeying the things you know from the Word of God?
