Eternal Resolutions

Nancy Leigh DeMoss: At the beginning of a new year, we like to think about ways this year could be better. That’s what New Year’s resolutions are all about. At this time of year, I like to review the resolutions of a wise man, Jonathan Edwards. His resolutions encourage me to live my life in such a way that I’m investing it in eternity.

Edwards wrote, “Resolved to endeavor to obtain for myself as much happiness in the other world as I possibly can."

Edwards remembered the words of Jesus, who said, “Lay up for yourselves treasure in heaven.” He was determined to get this treasure, in his words, with “all the power, might and vigor that I am capable of, in any way that can be thought of.”
